Boulder Colorado Sunrise Elopement
I love elopements. There is something amazing about two people leaving their normal life and kids and heading somewhere together to commit to one another. So, naturally, I was so excited when Ashley and Mark reached out to me about eloping with me in Colorado!
Whenever I’m suggesting a location and time for a Colorado elopement, I always come up with a number of different location ideas for the couple so I can get a better idea of what kind of backdrop they are looking for. We decided on a location close to Breckenridge, Colorado before having to change last second because of snow in the forecast. It has been the craziest start to summer I’ve seen in my 8 years in Colorado!
So we went over some last second location ideas and I threw out sunrise at Lost Gulch Overlook in Boulder. Some people think I’m crazy when I do this. Some (awesome) people go along with my wild Colorado engagement ideas and meet me at 5:30am to catch the sun hitting alpenglow. As an adventure photographer, I love being able to give couples what they are looking for and instilling confidence that I can find the perfect place for them to connect with. It’s important to not only find gorgeous scenery, but for the couples to have a place that resonates with them.
So, we met in the dark parking lot and made out way to the overlook to caught the first pinks and reds of the morning glow. Such a magical start to the morning! We spent the next few hours exploring the area and taking in the morning glow with the mountain to ourselves. Outside of the beautiful morning colors, I love finding absolute solitude at sunrise. You beat the crowds and get the mountain for yourselves.
I sent them off with a few sneak peak photos of the morning and gave them a couple dining suggestions in Denver before they headed home. Really couldn’t have asked for a better start to a beautiful day in Colorado.
