San Juan Mountains Elopement Photographer
Colorado’s wildest range. Your quietest I do.
The most rugged range in Colorado, and my backyard.
Jagged 13ers, cobalt alpine lakes, old mining roads, and aspen basins that go full gold in the fall. The San Juans do not look like the rest of the state.
This is the wildest, least crowded corner of Colorado, and I have been shooting elopements in it since 2018. I know which trailheads need a 4×4, which lakes stay quiet at sunrise, and which pass lights up first. That local photographer knowledge is the difference between a good spot and the right one.

“We love Sean! I only have good things to say about him and our Vows and Peaks experience. He made the whole process stress free, easy, and fun for us. I could tell right away by our phone call/text exchanges that he was a genuinely kind and cool human, and he is exactly that in person.”

Meet Your San Juan Mountain Elopement Photographer
I’ve spent the last 14 years exploring Colorado, and there’s nowhere I love photographing elopements more than the San Juan Mountains. After helping over 450 couples elope, I know where to find the quiet alpine lakes, hidden meadows, rugged mountain passes, and epic overlooks that make this place so unforgettable.
My goal is simple: help you have an incredible experience and capture it in a way that feels honest and natural. I’m not here to force awkward poses or turn your day into one long photoshoot. I’m here to guide you through an adventure that lets you be fully present while documenting your story as it unfolds.
“The location was STUNNING and Sean gave us the perfect amount of direction while giving us the freedom to just be ourselves and enjoy the moment.”
San Juan Mountain Elopement Photos and planning. Zero stress.
First call, we nail down what your day looks like. The spot, the feel, how gnarly you want to get. From there I take it off your plate.
Most of these locations sit on Uncompahgre and San Juan National Forest or BLM land, and I sort the permits so you never have to think about it. Everything lives in one planning app, so you are not digging through emails three days out.

Why Couples Choose Vows and Peaks
I Know the San Juans’ Quiet Corners
I don’t just know the overlooks everyone posts. I know which trailheads need a 4×4, which alpine lake stays glassy and empty at sunrise, and which pass lights up gold first in the fall. I’ve shot 450+ elopements across Colorado, and I’ve been working these mountains since 2018. That’s a stash of ceremony spots visiting photographers never find. Picture your first look on a high ridge with nobody around for miles. Just you two and the range.
Full Stress Free Planning
Permits, timelines, vendors, weather plan B. Dialed before you arrive. Most of these spots sit on National Forest or BLM land, and I sort the permits so you never think about them. Everything lives in one planning app on your phone. I pack micro-spikes and hand warmers just in case. You lace up and say yes. I carry the rest.

I’ll scramble up the approach with your bouquet on my pack, keep you laughing when the thin air hits, and crack a summit beer with you after the vows. You get someone who knows these trails cold, not a photographer who’s guessing above tree line.
Epic San Juan Mountain Photos
Stiff, posed photos have no place on a mountain. My approach is simple. Be awkward, be giddy, be a little bit of a wreck, and let me turn it into gold. 135+ five-star reviews say the same thing. It didn’t feel weird, even for the camera-shy ones. What you get back looks like the adventure you actually had, not a catalog shoot.
“Sean made the process so easy which was very important to me when I was planning our wedding. He was so thorough in all the documents he provided throughout the process, and he always answered any and all questions we had promptly and with kindness!”
Planning the details? I already wrote the book on it.
Seasons, the four towns, the marriage license, how to get here, what to wear. I put everything I know into one guide so you can plan with real local info instead of ten open tabs.
Strap up the boots. Summit the mountain. Say I do.
I know these mountains. I know how to make a day like this feel effortless. Now Let’s talk about yours!
