Vows and Peaks 2021 Recap
WOW! That is all I can say about 2021. It was a year full of epic sunrises, colorful sunsets, raw emotions and tons of bad ass couples. With that being said, I really wanted to put together a blog of all of my favorite moments and memories for this past season and show off some of the amazing couples I worked with. Keep reading below to peak out my highlights!
TOP MOMENTS!
FAVORITE PHOTO
This photo perfectly encompasses my favorite elements of every elopement: 1) a dope ass dress 2) vow ceremony 3) some sick ass mountains. 4) amazing lighting This was one of the first elopements of the summer and this photo held up through the entire year as being my favorite. Extra bonus: this wasn’t the initial ceremony spot we are going for. It was my first time at this spot and we audible to this spot when we got up there. I think it worked out pretty well!
BEST DRESS
You know when you absolute feel yourself? Yah, well that was Bri on her elopement and I have to agree! This dress was so fucking on point it’s stupid. The sleeves. The lace. The flowyness. Combine all of those and throw it into an awesome backdrop and you get this stunning photo.
Best Dress award was actually featured in INSIDER this year as well!
FAVORITE QUOTE
A joy shared is joy multiplied
Kimberly
I loved this quote so much because it resonates so much with what I do for work. Capturing couples most fun and joyous moments spreads not only to me but their loved ones through their photos. Kimberly and Jay basked in their elopement so much and it was one of my highlights of the season.
FAVORITE FIRST LOOK
This actually wasn’t the first spot we were planning on going for Stacy and Matt’s elopement. We had to change time and location last min because of some crazy weather rolling in and wanted to be able to embrace their day without the worry of weather ruining their day. I had actually seen this spot on a map but never been up here, so it was a “first look” in many senses of the imagination. We were all blown away when we first arrived as the rain from the night before had left everything extra vibrant for us at sunrise! They both changed for their first look and the moment was absolutely incredible with such a dope backdrop!
FAVORITE VOW CEREMONY
Ask any photographer and they’ll tell you lighting is one if not the biggest factor in awesome photos. And Kyle and Ashley’s elopement was a perfect example of why sunrise is an amazing time for vow ceremonies. Every one of their photos was golden lit perfectly and made for some epic sunrise ceremony. Bonus points: these two wrote some super personalized vows which evoked a lot of raw and candid emotions for their ceremony. Looking back on the photos and they were filled with genuine laughs and expressions making it my favorite vow ceremony of the season!
FAVORITE DETAIL SHOT
A couple things on this one! First, Sara and Chelsea eloped on 69…because who doesn’t love some teenage jokes?! But most importantly, Sara busted out the fake eye that belonged to her aunt. It was not only one of the best and…creepiest things I’d seen all summer but made for an awesome accessory on their detail shots!
FAVORITE FIRST DANCE
I loved this first dance because we timed it perfectly as the sun was setting behind the peaks. This was in June so the peaks still had some snow on them which made for some awesome contrast in the photos. They held their first dance right in the middle of the trail to protect the fragile surrounding tundra. That’s how you do a LNT elopement!
FAVORITE FAMILY PHOTO
There was a ton of amazing photos from Kara and Cody’s elopement but this one takes the cake in my opinion. It’s an amazing capture that these two little nuggets can look back on when they’re older. So precious!
FAVORITE SUNRISE
I have been to this spot a million times but this might have been my favorite sunrise of the summer. This spot is especially awesome because it’s not the focal spot of the area and it’s kind of a hidden gem that lines up perfectly at sunrise. This sunrise was especially awesome because of the dramatic clouds. Such a dope first look!
FAVORITE SUNSET
I aboslutely loved this sunset “elopement” with Melissa and Kendall. They were originally supposed to get married in 2021 but had to move it back a year because of covid they got preggers! So this day was extra special after such a crazy year. They completely embraced the rain, rocked some awesome outfits and shared some joints with me at the lake. Such a fun ass time with these two!
REST OF THE BEST FROM 2021!
THANK YOU 2021!
I just wanted to give one more big thanks to all of the amazing couples from this year. There isn’t one day that goes by where I’m not thankful for such an amazing job. I work with the most amazing couples and the gratitude is real. Being able to explore, hike, and capture couples special days never gets old and I feel like the luckiest dude. 2021 was one for the books and I always tell myself, you can’t take dope photos without dope couples, so thank you again! These incredible images don’t happen without YOU!
I am so stoked for 2022 and beyond!
