Cannon Beach and Hug Point Sunset Elopement
I have to say, that this was one of the more fun and exciting elopements I have been a part of. I have been so excited to share Kate and James Cannon Beach elopement story for awhile. It was an evening filled with games, adventure, a bon fire, and an epic sunset that left us with amazing colors to capture their special elopement. We talked before and decided on doing multiple spots for their elopement so they could really take in the Oregon Coast. My wife and I went out and scouted some spots at Cannon Beach and Hug Point earlier in the day so we had an idea of where we wanted to take them for photos. One of my favorite parts of elopements is finding cool, unique locations that leave you with infinite choices for photos! We started off at Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach to pop some celebration champagne and dance around the water while we waited for the sun to set before heading off to Hug Point. We walked along the beach for a little over an hour taking in the beautiful light that was casting shadows on the beach around Haystack Rock.
Next we moved up the coast to a more secluded location along Cannon Beach at Hug Point for a little more variety and intimacy! We had a lot of choices for fun photos at this location, whether you want to play in the ocean, run around the beach or make a bonfire. It was the perfect place to catch sunset and to cap off their elopement!
We had talked earlier about fun activities to do during their elopement and I asked them what they liked to do in their free time together. They mentioned they played disc golf during their breaks on their road trips….and lo and behold, they had their frisbee in the car! It was the elopement Gods shining down on us and telling them to get back to their roots and have some sandy fun on the beach!
By that point, they were covered in sand and the floodgates for adventure were open. They opened up and decided there were no rules for what they could or couldn’t do on their big day! These two were not afraid to get dirty for some epic photos. Nothing was off limits for them! Don’t believe me? Check it out for yourself!
We may have started on the beach, but we inevitably felt pulled toward the beautiful, rocky cliffs that line Cannon Beach and much of Oregon’s coast for some adventure!
We were coming to end of their Cannon Beach elopement with each of them being completely soaked from their water adventures…and the only way to cap off such an epic experience is with a bonfire near Hug Point, naturally!
This was such a fun and special evening and I was so incredible grateful to capture their adventure on the Cannon Beach. It’s always so fun when couples let it rip and let their wild side take over. These two really took in every moment of their sunset elopement!

My name is Sean, and I can’t wait to help create your Cannon Beach adventure elopement! I’m a free spirit who has dedicated my life to exploring this wild world and connecting to the people in it.
I know firsthand what an important and personal decision this is—my wife and I eloped to Northern Ireland. You’re trusting me to capture this amazing day, and I make it my responsibility to make sure you have an incredible experience from start to finish.
My passion has led me here, where I can follow my heart and share my love for the outdoors with others on their wedding day. It’s truly an awesome experience, and I’m stoked every time I get to document your day.
When I’m not photographing couples, I love to go exploring with my wife and our corgi. Our dream is to own an Airstream and take Vows and Peaks on the road!
Sound like the perfect match? Reach out so we can get started on your epic elopement!
