Just Send It: A 14er Elopement
Some Colorado elopement days feel earned. India and Jason’s was one of them.
Their story began the old-school way—by train out near Telluride. With a small group of close friends and fully loaded packs, we rode deep into one of the San Juan’s most iconic backpacking basins. No roads, no crowds—just raw San Juan wilderness and the quiet kind of excitement that comes from knowing you’re about to do something big.
We hiked into camp, shared dinner, and tried to sleep knowing the alarm was set for 3 a.m.
Headlamps clicked on in the dark. Coffee was sipped quietly. Then we started up—moving through snow patches, loose rubble, and thin alpine air. The kind of climb that demands presence and patience.
We reached the summit just as the sun broke the horizon. Golden light spilled across the Grenadiers, and Jagged Peak—my favorite mountain in Colorado—cut sharply through the skyline. At over 14,000 feet, India and Jason shared their first look, followed by couples photos as the world slowly woke up around us.
After the summit, we descended to a quiet lower alpine lake where their friends gathered close. Surrounded by water, peaks, and morning light, India and Jason shared their vows—simple, grounded, and deeply intentional.
With vows spoken and packs reloaded, we hiked back out of the basin and caught the train home. Adventure in. Marriage sealed. Adventure out.
This wasn’t about doing something extreme for the sake of it. It was about building a day that reflected who they are—adventurous, connected, and fully willing to send it if it meant starting their marriage somewhere unforgettable.
Some couples want ballrooms. Some couples want 14ers at sunrise.
India and Jason chose the full send.

A terrific story and the photos are breathtaking! They are almost as gorgeous as the couple!
