Grand Lake Elopement
When Zach and Mayra reached out about their Colorado elopement, they told me they wanted to include their families and friends. These are some of my favorite elopements because the couples can still fill their sense of adventure while including their loved ones. So I was super excited to go over a couple different options with them in Grand Lake, Colorado!
We went over a couple different hiking locations for their first look and a ceremony spot near Grand Lake before settling on a stunning alpine lake for the sunrise session. We hiked up with their pup right as the light was coming over the mountains. We passed some waterfalls and stunning wildflowers before arriving at the lake where they changed for their first look. I absolutely love first looks and this one didn’t disappoint! The lake had some amazing reflections and they were all alone for this intimate moment!
We then explored the surrounding area for portrait photos while they popped and drank some bubbles with their dog. It was a really awesome start to a fun day! We set down from the lake where we headed back to Grand Lake for a break before their ceremony in the afternoon. We met back up for the ceremony at a lake where they had their friends and families join them.
I absolutely love days like this and can’t thank Zach and Mayra enough for having me be part of their elopement in Grand Lake, Colorado!

I’m Sean. I live 40 minutes from Telluride in Ridgway, I’ve photographed 450+ elopements across Colorado, and Telluride is still my favorite area in the entire state to take couples who want the real version of a mountain elopement. I don’t just photograph elopements. I plan them, scout the location myself, handle the permits, and connect you with local vendors so you don’t have to think about any of it.
I live in Colorado full time, not just for elopement season. This isn’t a weekend trip for me. I’ve spent years learning these mountains, and I use that to find you a spot nobody else would think to send you to.
I’m Sean. I moved to Colorado 14 years ago and spent the first few years just exploring every corner of the state I could find. Eight years ago I started doing elopements in Colorado and it clicked immediately.
Hundreds of couples later and I’m still going out before sunrise to find those hidden locations, fixing broken dress zippers mid elopement, and building days where couples tell me they completely forgot I was even there. That the whole thing felt natural and unscripted, like hanging out with an old friend who just happened to be capturing everything. I’ve had couples deal with weather that had no business being on their wedding day, and their friends and family still couldn’t stop raving about the photos. That’s what I’m after every single time!
This place is not a backdrop to me. It’s home. That’s the difference between hiring someone who flies in for your elopement and hiring someone who genuinely lives in the mountains you’re getting married in.
