Snowy St Marys Glacier + Family Elopement
The alarm went off at 6:30am — the good kind of early. The kind that means you’re chasing something epic. Under clear Colorado skies and a crisp mountain breeze, we hiked up to St. Mary’s Glacier while the world was still quiet and untouched.
At the glacier, Rebecca and Jeffery split up to get ready for their first look. Jeffery rocked a turkey feather bow tie and mountain peak socks (10/10 mountain groom energy), while Rebecca stepped into her dress as the wind did its thing — catching every detail and making the moment feel cinematic in the best way. Their first look was raw, emotional, and exactly what you hope for when you ditch the rulebook.
From there, we made our way down to the glacier lake shoreline where they exchanged handwritten vows with a snowy glacier and partially frozen lake standing in as witnesses. Just the two of them, their words, and the kind of silence you only get in the mountains. Afterwards, they popped mimosas and soaked it all in, sitting on a log like they had nowhere else to be — because they didn’t.
We wrapped up the adventure portion with a hike back down and headed toward Breckenridge, stopping at a few jaw-dropping spots along the way (plus plenty of strangers yelling “congrats!” out car windows). Later that afternoon, they met up with family at Sapphire Point in Breckenridge for a more traditional ceremony — the perfect blend of intimate and inclusive. Rebecca’s dad walked her down the aisle, Jeffery’s daughter stole the show as flower girl, and Jeffery’s best friend officiated. And because nature always gets an invite, a very bold family of chipmunks provided some perfectly timed comic relief.
After the ceremony, we grabbed family photos before sneaking away for newlywed portraits — scrambling onto rocks, breathing in the alpine air, and taking it all in with snow-capped peaks and a glassy reservoir behind them. Proof that you really can have it all: adventure, intention, family, and a wedding day that feels 100% like you.
